Asphalting for Spirit of
Tasmania’s New Quay in Geelong
Construction of Spirit of Tasmania Quay in Corio, located north of Geelong, involved extensive construction works. It included rehabilitation works along Corio Quay Road, construction of new berthing and mooring infrastructure, civil works inside the port boundary, and construction of the new passenger terminal all the way to the water’s edge.
Taka Construction Ltd was selected by BMD Constructions as their partner of choice for the asphalt works on such a high profile project in the Geelong region. The rehabilitation along Corio Quay Road upgrade was constructed through Fulton Hogan’s South West Alliance program and there was over 10,000 tonne of asphalt placed to upgrade the roads leading to the new port terminal
The project had over 31,000 tonnes of asphalt laid overall and required 92 crew shifts.
